Stephen Dampier

History Teacher

Stephen was born in Lincoln UK and graduated from the University of Lincoln with a BA (Hons) in Politics. After spending time working in various roles outside of education including the civil service he went on to complete his PGCE in secondary education at The University of Hull. Stephen taught in the UK for five years before relocating overseas. He began working at a state school in Retford and his last school was a grammar school called Boston High School. Stephen relocated to Thailand in 2014 and worked in an international school in Bangkok. Whilst he was there he became the Head of Humanities and then the Head of Key Stage 3. After five years he moved to Doha, Qatar to continue gaining educational experience in a different country. In 2018 Stephen joined the Dulwich family at Dulwich International High School, Zhuhai as a Teacher of Humanities. During his time there he became the Head of Humanities and redeveloped the entire curriculum for Key Stage 4 and 5 Geography and History. Stephen has joined Dulwich College Suzhou as a Teacher of History and he is also the Head of Year 9. Having spent the last three years in a more academic role he is looking forward to taking on a pastoral role again and sharing his passion for History with the students. He has enjoyed his time in China so far and hopes it continues for many years to come. In his spare time he enjoys travelling, cooking, going to the gym and playing board/card games as well as spending time with his wife and his cat called Archie.
