Matthew Martin Sawyer
Mathematics Teacher
Matthew, an American who grew up in New Zealand, holds a BSc in Mathematics and a Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching in Secondary Education, both from Massey University. Before transitioning to teaching, he coached esports teams in Overwatch Contenders and led Team New Zealand in the 2019 Overwatch World Cup.
He has taught Mathematics at Palmerston North Boys' High School in New Zealand for 2.5 years, where he also coached teams and organized mathematics competitions to inspire student engagement and excellence.
In his free time, Matthew is an avid athlete, having represented New Zealand in canoe polo. He also enjoys hiking, kayaking, running, and new adventures.
