Year 6 students impress audiences with their directorial debuts
This term, Year 6 students have been working on the topic ‘What makes a good film?’ which culminated in their Fabulous Finish - the Year 6 D’Oscars Awards Ceremony. The children created animation films based on the theme ‘X Marks the Spot’. The process that the children went through to create these films was a complex one. From writing narrative stories and changing these into exciting playscripts, to taking plain cardboard boxes and turning them into beautiful sets; the children developed a number of artistic skills throughout this project including design, acting, directing and music-making.
The D’Oscars Awards Ceremony was a fantastic adaptation of the legendary annual Oscars night - there was glamour, a delightful food and drink reception prepared by parents (thank you!), the Hollywood Year 6 Walk of Fame and of course the coveted D’Oscar Awards. There were several categories including best set design, best music, best editing, best storyline as well as best animation film per class before announcing the overall best animation film in Year 6.
Well done to all the children, it was a great night celebrating all the hard work that the children have put into this term!
