50th Anniversary of Earth Day

50th anniversary of Earth Day

Wednesday the 22nd of April 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the world’s largest civil event concerned with climate action. In previous years, the College has made this a fun, informative and inclusive event for students and families alike. Last year in DUCKS, our Earth Day learning was extended from a day to a week, culminating in the much loved, ‘Earth Day Fair and Toy and Book Swap’. This year, how we celebrate Earth Day will reflect the current challenges and we will acknowledge the day by inviting students to participate in digital and home learning activities, which we will post on Seesaw on the 22nd of April 2020.

Co-existence with other life will be the main theme for DUCKS this Earth Day and as such, we will be inviting students to create posters highlighting the plight and means of protecting endangered animals. More details will be posted as a Seesaw activity and responses can be forwarded to Miss Valerie and Miss Elizabeth, who will be looking for winning entries from each year group. The closing date is Wednesday 29th April.

We look forward to seeing your children’s Earth Day responses.
