Student Spotlight: A Golf Swing to Win FCG
Congratulations to our Year 7 student Selena Y who recently won the Super Lychee Golf Series - 2024 Future Championship Golf (FCG), Callaway Junior Golf Championship Qualifier Huzhou Station!
Her hard work, dedication and success has secured her qualification into the main competition of the 2024 FCG Callaway Junior Golf Championship.
Now, let's see how she received such an amazing award!
Q: How did you feel this time about the competition and what did you learn?
A: This time is a very meaningful game, because I got a message that if I get the champion for this competition I will get a wild card for the 2024 FCG Callaway World Championship in the United States. This was a big challenge for me.
I felt particularly nervous in this game, because I was not well prepared. I was not notified about it early enough and I only tried rounding for one day. Just as well the final score was I expected. I have learned a lot of experience in this competition, I learned to really adjust the mentality, keep yourself, and don’t be affected by others.
Q: When was the first time that you started to fall in love with golf? Would you like to share the experience with us about that moment?
A: I started contact golf when I was studying kindergarten in Korea, but I fallen in love with golf since 2022. I would like to learn golf because I could make friends to get along each other, to hear the ball going into the hole and keep challenging myself. But there is a best point I like, it is to have different feelings everyday. Sometimes it can give you surprise, sometimes it can give you scare, sometimes it can give you stressful, and sometimes it can give you honour. Do you know that? When I lost a 1 yard putt, I felt my heart is crumbled. Relating to these points you must have a strong resistance to stress.
Q: How do you usually balance your study and golf practice, given that you need to commit a lot of time to practice?
A: I usually play golf about 16:00 to 18:00 pm after that when I got home to take a dinner is already 19:00 pm. Sometimes I have to work on the car or bus to finish a task or homework, to do that you have to have patient to perfectly match your time.
Q: What is your next goal?
A: I don’t know yet, but I really like traveling when I go to different places to play golf. In the future, I hope that my own target is to play professionally, and to go to a famous College like Rose Zhang.
Congratulations to Senela Y for her remarkable achievement! As she continues to refine her golf skills, we eagerly anticipate seeing her shine on the world stage in the future. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
