The focus of this year's event was Food Security. The opening ceremony commenced with an inspiring speech by Dr Rachael Rodney-Harris, a distinguished professor from ANU. Students were organized into groups and assigned tasks that involved creating innovative solutions to address global challenges.
Our students received special mentions in both the Junior and Senior divisions. They truly excelled and should be commended for their exceptional performance!

Let’s see Soonbi C, Year 12, Vice President Student Council, sharing her experiences with us:
As our team planned our response to the problem of food scarcity and food security, we were confronted with the harsh reality that thousands of people still experience hunger on a daily basis. With this in mind, although we were analyzing the situation of a distance land in Kenya, we began to recognize our previous ignorance regarding the impact of our actions, and set out to work towards and support innovative solutions that has the potential to bringing about positive developments for all. After this event, I have come to understand that this project is just a starter to engage students like me into these crisis. I believe that our contribution can expand in the future if we work together.
Planet Hack offered students a valuable opportunity to test their limits and apply their acquired knowledge in a practical setting. Throughout the event, students unleashed their creativity, honed their critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and fostered a strong sense of teamwork.
At DCSZ, we are committed to nurturing globally-minded individuals, and we eagerly anticipate witnessing our students making impactful contributions to the world.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Australian National University (ANU) who provided our students with great chances to explore the mystery of the technology world.
A big thank you to DCSZ staff, Mr Stewart AITKENHEAD, Ms Wendy Yang and Ms Nicolene VAN NIKKELEN-KUYPER who joined the Planet Hack together with the students and played the vital role in making things happen.
