House Spirit Day: Celebrating Unity and Creativity

Last week in Primary, we came together to celebrate House Spirit Day—an incredible opportunity for students to strengthen their sense of community, embrace their House identity, and showcase their teamwork and creativity. - Yolanda Kong, Primary Student Journey Lead

The day kicked off with an engaging introduction to each House, where students met their House Leaders and Captains through dynamic visuals and short presentations. They learned about the history, values, and traditions that have shaped their House over the years, deepening their understanding of what it truly means to belong.
Beyond individual classes and year groups, students collaborated across different ages, forming new connections and learning from one another. Teachers and older students took on mentorship roles, guiding discussions and activities that encouraged leadership and teamwork within the Houses.

In small groups, students explored what makes their House special. Through personal stories and shared experiences, they identified three words that best captured their House spirit in Primary Junior and Primary DUCKS.
House Key Words
Inspired by these words, each House found creative ways to express their spirit. Some designed vibrant posters, others created chants, while a few developed unique ways to represent their House values. The energy and enthusiasm were contagious, with students collaborating, supporting one another, and bringing their ideas to life.
As a House Captain for Howard, I had a wonderful time connecting with students and celebrating our collective spirit. We reflected on words that describe our team, emphasising unity and support. It was a joyous occasion that strengthened our sense of community and allowed us to celebrate one another's achievements.- Lucy Hayward, Head of Year 2/Howard House Leader

House Spirit Day was a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with their Houses—Anand, Wing, Shackleton, or Howard. As a House Captain, I had the privilege of speaking to Anand students about our House and engaging with them. Overall, it was a great day for everyone to learn more about their House identity and build a stronger sense of community. - Ryan C, Anand House Captain
House Spirit Day was a powerful reminder that our strength lies in teamwork, resilience, and pride in our shared journey. The friendships formed, the values reinforced, and the collective spirit displayed will continue to inspire our students long after the event. By working together across year groups and beyond the classroom, we strengthened our school community and proved that House spirit isn’t just a one-day event—it’s a lasting bond that connects us all!
