DCSZ Student Winning Digital Art Competition
The theme for International Women’s Day 2022, set up by the United Nation is, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, recognizing the contribution of women and girls around the world, who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all. With this significant day fast approaching us, our headquarter has created the digital art competition for our students.
The competition asks students to create a digital artwork to celebrate the achievements of women in history or those who have made an impact by using software or apps like Photoshop, Illustrator or Procreate.
Julie (Yeongju) J, our Junior School student from Year 6, has won the prize of this competition:
Julie J :
“I designed my artwork like I did because firstly Anne is famous for her diary so I drew her writing her diary. Secondly, for the background I included the picture of her self and diary, and some other illustrations to represent her life,” said Julie, “Lastly, I added words beside my art work to ‘express’ her life plus my thinking of her. Anne is inspiring for me because even as a young age, she never gave up her happiness and smiles during the tragic of World War 2.”
Ms Charlotte Griffiths, who has been the leading staff inviting students to participate in this competition, is really excited to see the result, “I am beyond pleased with Julie’s win, I think it’s a wonderful reflection of the effort and thought she put into her digital artwork. With International Women’s Day fast approaching, I think it is important that we all take some time to reflect on the outstanding contributions women have made and are making in our community and around the world today. In Junior School, we will be taking sometime next week to focus on Gender Equality (Global Goal #5). I look forward to celebrating the fantastic work our children will produce. “
Both Junior School and Senior School participated in this competition, and let us see some wonderful artworks from our students.
