What is the IB options process?When does it take place?
At Dulwich College Suzhou, the IB options process commences with a soft launch in Term 3 of Year 10, with initial communications sent to students and parents outlining the programmes and courses available in Years 12 and 13.
This process aims to inform and support students and parents by providing essential information and guidance on our IB offerings, ensuring ample time for questions and guided exploration of the available pathways.

lB programme and course selection student session 2 with Mr Paterson
- 2 December to 3 March
University Counsellors have one-to-one meetings with students
- February
Student perspectives on the lB
- 24 February
lB programme and course selection evening
- 3 March
Deadline for lB programme and course selections
- 4 March to 28 March
Time for one-to-one meetings between students and the Senior School Leadership Team to confirm or further research choices. This timeframe will potentially involve multiple meetings with individual students and the issuance of options letter

Key Advice for IB Programme and Course Selection
Here’s key advice we give Year 11 students starting the IB options process:
IBCP: If you have a strong passion for and a high level of expertise in a particular area, then the IBCP might be a fantastic opportunity for you
IBDP: If you are unsure about what you want to study and do in the future, consider taking the IBDP to keep your options open and continue to explore your passions
Use the support you have around you. This consists of, but is not limited to:
Ask questions, lots of questions! The more information and clarity you have about the pathways available, yourself as a learner, and your aspirations, the better decisions you will make
