Yan is a visionary leader with over two decades of cross-sector expertise spanning child-focused consumer industries, global philanthropy, and international education. Her career trajectory reflects a unique fusion of strategic acumen, cultural fluency, and purpose-driven innovation.
Commenced her career in 1999 as a journalist and editor at a famed lifestyle Magazine Group, ascending to Editor-in-Chief within five years. This tenure honed her mastery of narrative-driven engagement and cross-cultural storytelling.
As Global Head of Public Relations and B2C Marketing at Hape International, the world’s premier sustainable toy manufacturer with eight international subsidiaries, she orchestrated award-winning campaigns that redefined industry benchmarks. Notably, to commemorate the group’s 30th anniversary, she conceptualized and executed the CSR initiative “We Care, We Share” – a humanitarian program delivering aid to children impacted by the Syrian Civil War, 2015 Nepal Earthquake, and systemic poverty and famine across Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. The initiative also supported 127 autism rehabilitation centers and special-needs schools in China, cementing Hape’s legacy as a leader in ethical corporate stewardship. She orchestrated groundbreaking cross-industry collaborations, securing Hape's historic first-ever brand integrations at the Oscars, and Emmy Awards in 2014—an unprecedented achievement for a toy manufacturer.
Amid the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yan bore a part in critical operations at the German School Shanghai, orchestrating integrated strategies across marketing, admissions, government relations, and crisis communications to fortify the sustainable growth trajectory. This tenure cultivated a nuanced mastery of international education ecosystems within the Yangtze River Delta.
A staunch advocate for intercultural dialogue, Yan champions cultural intelligence as the cornerstone of effective leadership in multinational organizations, particularly within global education ecosystems. Beyond her professional pursuits, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading, practising yoga and travelling. If the world was a book, then she had turned sixty pages shallowly. Her lifelong ambition, is to “read the world cover to cover – one chapter at a time.”
