David Massiah
Head of College
David has worked in leading IB schools, K-12, in South America, such as at Newton College for 9 years, the first IB school in Peru. He was also the LAHC Executive Headteacher at Redland School in Chile, which is an UWC affiliative school. He has been a Director of Studies (5 years) and Director of Extended Curriculum (4 years) whole school, taught IB DP English in Senior School, overseen the middle school programs running IGCSEs and MYP, been a PYP Exhibition mentor (IB Primary School program) and supported Kindergarten classes. He has also overseen regional education projects connected to student leadership, sustainability and MUN. He joined the Dulwich/EIM group in 2020 as Head of College, Dulwich College Yangon. The following year, he started the role as Education Director across the EIM group and then joined Dulwich College Suzhou as Head of College in 2022.
David graduated from Cambridge University in English Literature and Language, and PGCE in 2000. In 2008, he completed his MA/PGD in International Education and Development from the University of East Anglia in England. He has obtained many awards during this career such as the "Teacher of Excellence" award from Stanford university in October 2013 and the ‘Global Best Teacher Award’ by ESU, English Speaking Union, in 2020.
David is married to Corina, who is Peruvian and comes from an editorial background and schools support services background. They have two cats, Lobo and Shloky.
David is a passionate advocate of authentic learning, service learning, active political literacy and student agency, helping schools become a hub of excellence, innovation, leadership and service across the community. He is a big fan of Liverpool football club, enjoys photography, Model United Nations, Project Citizen, sustainability, coaching, playing various sports and is a keen magician!
