Rebecca was born in Ascot, England and grew up there for 10 years with her parents and sister. From here, she moved to Gibraltar for 5 years and then moved to New Zealand, where she has been for just over 11 years. Rebecca attended the University of Canterbury, College of Education in Christchurch. She graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning in the primary sector, with honours. Upon graduating, Rebecca has taught in two schools in the Canterbury region. One was a small, rural, country school and the other was a large city Catholic school. She loved her time at both, gaining great insights into education.
Rebecca has always known she wanted to be a teacher and her passion for education continues to grow every day. While studying in her honours year at university, Rebecca looked closely at how children's literacy skills can be developed and enhanced through the use of drama. She picked up wonderful skills during her research that she uses daily in the classroom and is pleased with the results these show. She is passionate about her profession and enjoys the ever-changing teaching world we are in.
In her spare time, Rebecca loves spending time with family and friends, especially her two young nephews. She is an enthusiastic runner and has completed 4 half marathons in the last few years. Rebecca also enjoys getting involved in other sports, baking, reading and crafts.
