Matthew has been teaching for the past four years at a preparatory school in the U.K. During his time there, he spent two years in Year 4 before moving up to Year Six, where he was able to introduce new initiatives such as a debating society and a venture into the world of publishing in which children researched, wrote, marketed and then sold their own books for charity.
Before this, Matthew’s first steps into education began during his undergraduate degree when he volunteered at a school for the disabled in Kingston. Following that, Matthew decided to gather more experience developing his understanding of behaviour management, working with children with developmental disabilities. Matthew’s teaching philosophy is simple: he believes that children produce their best work when they are happy and have confidence in themselves. Matthew sees it as part of the teacher's job to instill a sense of self-belief into everyone who enters the classroom.
