Nicholas Bateman

Classroom Teacher

Nick was born and raised in a small village in the south of England but has since moved around the southeast, spending the last few years living in Brighton. He speaks English, and a little bit of both Japanese and German. He has experience teaching years 2, 4 and 6 within mainstream primary British schools, worked as a cover supervisor for English, Media, Drama and Film studies at Key Stage 3, and has taught English as a second language or English as an additional language to every age-group from pre-school to pensioner, both in the UK and Japan - where he lived for two years.

He graduated from the University College of the Creative Arts with honours in Digital Screen Arts, and has maintained his interest in technology and the arts through his teaching. He went on to gain his PGCE (Primary English specialism) through the University of Brighton before teaching at a large junior school in Crawley for the past three years.

Nick has recently moved from DUCKS to Junior School, where he will be teaching English for English Language Learners and delivering professional learning to other Junior School staff so they can better support their ELL pupils.
