DUCKS Classroom Teacher
Marama is from New Zealand where she grew up in beautiful South Otago, home to many scenes from ‘Lord of the Rings’!
A graduate of both the Dunedin College of Education and the University of Waikato, Marama has a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor of Teaching (ECE). She has been an early childhood educator for the past 25 years in a range of settings and range of roles from kindergartens to day care centres, in New Zealand, Australia and China. Marama’s particular interests lie in the field of transition, not only from home to the early childhood setting, but also from the early childhood setting to school. She is also a firm believer in working with families to ensure the best possible connection between home and school.
Prior to coming to Suzhou, Marama was a teacher of 2 and 3-year olds for 5 years at an International School in Zhuhai. Zhuhai was her first experience of living in China and one that she thoroughly enjoyed.
Marama is in Suzhou with her husband Campbell, daughter Holly and son Charlie. When not teaching she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring China and its culture.
