MADD 2019 Festival and Gala Concert

Last week, a group of Dulwich Suzhou Year 5 and Year 6 students travelled to Dulwich College Shanghai to participate in the annual MADD Festival. This is a 3 day curriculum initiative where students choose between: Music (Orchestra, Choir, Rock Band), Art, Drama, Dance or Film and together with other Dulwich international students from across our family of colleges, they spend 3 days creating and collaborating with top international practitioners from those performing arts disciplines.

After a busy few days working with other students from across Dulwich College International, on Saturday night the children at MADD took part in the finale gala concert. With the theme of the week being China’s ‘Five Element Philosophy’, performances portrayed different artistic interpretations of earth, fire, water, wood and metal. The children in all disciplines were wonderful ambassadors of our school, demonstrating their confidence and enjoyment in all of their learning. Those who had been making artworks talked eruditely to arriving parents about their creations, followed by world-class drama, dance, film, choir and orchestral performances. The standard of work was phenomenal from all students, fully demonstrating their talents and artistic passions. Furthermore, the collaboration and team-work shown by all was amazing.

A huge well done to all of our students, who worked incredibly hard and were superb ambassadors for our College. Also, a big thank you to all the adults who dedicated their time to make this trip such a success, including staff and parents. Your support through planning, rehearsals and the event itself is greatly appreciated.
