A First ACAMIS Green Division Championship for Dulwich College Suzhou

Dulwich College Suzhou ACAMIS Green Division Champions

The College hosted the Under 19 ACAMIS Green Division Football competition from 8 -10 March 2019, an event that saw one of the standout sporting successes in recent years at the College for our Dulwich College Suzhou Tigers!

Schools from Shanghai, Taiwan & Hong Kong were welcomed for a three day competition packed with high quality competitive football action. Our boys team, under the guidance of Coach Toby, demonstrated significant improvement throughout the competition, achieving an overall 6th place position. Thor Krogshave captained the team with great effect & was awarded an All Star Award for his consistently impressive performances.

It was our girls team however who stole the headlines…

In a tournament that started slowly, a squad blended with first-time and experienced ACAMIS performers, began to believe success was possible with a comfortable 3-1 quarter final victory on Saturday morning, a long range effort from Linde Miedema was the pick of the goals.

This was followed by a nail biting semi-final against a talented AIS HK side. Our girls eventually prevailed with a penalty shootout victory, goalkeeper Oona Willems deservedly gaining the plaudits with two penalty saves.

A very strong SCIS team awaited the girls in the Championship match, who had beaten & outplayed our girls in the round robin stage of competition. Our girls however rose to the occasion, led by a tenacious and inspiring captain's performance from Emili Licht & the tireless hard work of midfielders Grace Estep & Enola Deraymaeker. A deflected effort by Kiana Deraymaeker put Dulwich College Suzhou Tigers into a 1-0 lead, a lead that was maintained to ensure a very first ACAMIS Green Division Championship for the College.

All involved can be extremely proud of their achievements, with a particular mention to both Coach Toby & Mr Malik for their work in coaching our squads.

Go Tigers!

A special thanks also goes to the Senior School Media Team for creating the brilliant highlights video which captures the excitement of the tournament.
