A Heartwarming Saturday of Sports at Dulwich College Suzhou
Last Saturday, the Friends of Dulwich at Dulwich College Suzhou put together a fantastic family sports event that brought students, parents, and the community together for a morning of teamwork and fun. With basketball and volleyball on the agenda, everyone had a chance to jump in and experience something new.
A unique coaching experience
One of the highlights of the day was seeing our older students step up as coaches. They took the time to guide the younger ones, sharing their skills and passion for sports. For many of the little ones, it was their first time learning about volleyball, and the older students approached this role with so much care and patience.
At Dulwich College Suzhou, we quite often have this type of events where the older students have the opportunities to coach and guide the younger ones through service projects, House events as well as CCA activities. We are proud of this special feature of our school life, and this is a true point of the Dulwich Difference.
Parents joining the fun
As a busy parent, when was your last time playing sport games actively with your child? Parents got in on the action, embracing the day’s theme: letting our kids teach us how to play! This fun twist led to some wonderful moments of connection and laughter as families enjoyed friendly competition and learned from one another.
An atmosphere of togetherness
The joy on the younger students' faces as they picked up new skills, combined with the pride of their older coaches, created a truly heartwarming scene. There were no conflicts, no frustration over missed rules — just pure enjoyment and a sense of collaboration and learning together in sports. Sport is about social. Our students learn through social and learn through each other’s difference everyday – that is our philosophy in our education.
As we look back on this event, we feel so grateful for the connections made and the memories shared. A huge thank you to our student coaches, Miyu T, Manuel P and Nicolas Y, and to the Friends of Dulwich for making this event possible. We also want to thank all the families who participated and contributed to the success of our family sports day. We’re excited for more events that bring us together to celebrate the joy of sports and community!
